DAVID WORSFOLD TOPS THE APRA STANDINGS

WANDOAN rider David Worsfold has taken the lead in Australian Professional Rodeo Association standings after nine months of the season.

Worsfold enjoyed great success on the Christmas Run of rodeos in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia and takes over at the top of the standings from Roma rider Jamie Howlett.

The Wandoan cowboy is one of two standings leaders from the Western Downs region, Warra cowgirl Jane Fay has maintained her lead in the breakaway roping standings.

Warwick rider Michael Maher retained top spot in the standings in saddle bronc after some placings on the Christmas Run.

Worsfold, Fay and Maher are assured of qualification in the top-15 for the Warwick Rodeo Australian Championships on October 22-25 at the Warwick Showgrounds.

The top-eight in each event in the APRA will compete in the finals at Warwick over four rounds at the same time as a week of campdrafting showcased by the famous Warwick Gold Cup.

The next Queensland APRA rodeo is the Millmerran Show Rodeo on February 28.
