CASEY LILLYMAN

GUNNEDAH cowboy Casey Lillyman has moved up to sixth place in Australian Professional Rodeo Association all around cowboy standings.

He is the top placed rider from New South Wales on the all around standings after the first six months of the new season.

Wantabadgery rider Cody Angland is 15th after a first and second at the Warwick Rodeo and Tamworth cowboy Norman Stagg 18th.

Lillyman has enjoyed success in all three timed events this year.

He is 3rd in team roping header standings, 10th in steer wrestling and 11th in the rope and tie.

Stagg is 7th and Hamish McIlrick (Quirindi) 16th in the rope and tie and John Day, of Junee, 18th in steer wrestling, the only others from New South Wales in the top 20.

New South Wales has done better in team roping with seven in header standings, Lillyman in third spot, Troy Caban, of Moree, fourth, and Stephen Mapp, of Singleton, seventh after victory at the Warwick Rodeo.

Tamworth rider Jeff Miller is eighth, Heath Litchfield (Griffith) 10th, Ben Smith (Moonbi) 14th and Lindsay Rosetta (Mayrung) 16th.

After sharing in a team roping victory in Warwick, Matthew Mapp has moved to fifth in team roping heeler standings. Ty Parkinson from Moore Creek is 13th and Narrabri rider Peter Swain 18th.

Smith and Parkinson combined for fifth overall in team roping in the Warwick Rodeo.

Lillyman has recorded one placing in team roping at each of the past two National Finals Rodeo (NFR) at the Gold Coast.

He is on target to feature in three events at the next NFR at the Queensland State Equestrian Centre at Caboolture on May 1-4.

The top 15 on standings in all APRA events at the end of April will qualify for the NFR.

The next APRA rodeo in New South Wales is at Rosewood on December 7.

Rodeo action will hot up from Boxing Day in the Christmas Run of seven rodeos in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

NSW rodeos on the Christmas Run will be held at Deliniquin on December 28, Tumbarumba on January 1 and Finley on January 3.

All three rodeos are for championship points which will attract many of the best competitors in the nation.
