TOOWOOMBA cowboy Owen Lee has the chance to increase his lead in the bareback bronc standings when he competes in Australian Professional Rodeo Association events at Emerald and Roma at Easter.
Lee took the bareback lead from Roma rider Jamie Howlett early this year.
Wandoan rider Dave Worsfold has moved into second place in the standings in bareback.
In the saddle bronc ride, Warwick pair Michael Maher and Mark Collins have nominated after filling the top-two positions in a rodeo on the Victorian long weekend in early March.
There are large nominations for all events at Emerald and Roma with star cowgirl Wendy Caban travelling from Moree to compete in the barrel racing and breakaway roping.
A strong contingent of riders from Central Queensland will compete at both rodeos.
Shane Iker has won two all around titles in the APRA and his son Jordan is one of the young guns of the sport.
They hail from Alton Downs near Rockhampton and are both well placed in team roping standings.
Shane is fifth in team roping header standings and Jordan seventh. Shane is also fourth in team roping and 11th in steer wrestling to be sixth overall in all around standings.
Bull riders will spend even more time on the road at Easter than other riders with the action starting with a Friday bull ride at Roma and then Emerald and on day 3 back to Roma.
All eight championship events will be held at the Emerald M Group Sunflower Festival Rodeo on Easter Saturday and the Roma Rodeo on Easter Sunday.
Riders are going into the last month of the APRA season with some needing prize money to qualify for the Warwick Rodeo Australian Championships on October 22-25 when the top-15 in each event will compete for the titles.
