CABAN BROTHERS FROM MOREE AND EMERALD

BROTHERS from Moree and Emerald are going well in the new season in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.

Troy Caban from Moree is currently third in team roping header standings and odds on to qualify in the top-15 for the Australian Championships next year.

The leaders at April 30 next year qualify for the championships.

Troy’s brother Dale from Emerald is seventh in heeler standings so there is a strong chance they will both qualify and can compete together in the four rounds of the championships.

The brothers also compete in the rope and tie which puts them in the all around standings where Dale is currently 9th and Troy 13th.

It has been a successful season so far for the Caban family with Troy’s wife Wendy the all around leader on the pro tour among the cowgirls.

She is third in breakaway roping and seventh in the barrel race.

Dale’s wife Leanne is 20th in breakaway roping standings and will need to perform well on the Christmas Run, if she nominates, or at the Alton Downs Double Dip on December 31-January 1 in Central Queensland to stay in the race for the top-15.

Many of the riders in the APRA are on a short break now with only a rodeo at Rosewood (NSW) on December 5 in the run-up to the start of the Christmas Run at Myrtleford on Boxing Day.

With seven rodeos in four states in the Christmas Run down south, many of the competitors from Queensland and Northern New South Wales will head south to maintain or improve their positions in the standings.

APRA Program: December 5 – Rosewood (NSW); December 26 – Myrtleford (Vic) Golden Spurs Rodeo; December 27 – Carrieton (SA); December 31-January 1 – Alton Downs (Qld) Double Dip; January 1 – Tumbarumba (NSW) 71st Rodeo; January 2 – Yarrawonga (Vic); January 8 – Finley (NSW); January 9 – Beechworth (Vic), Carrick (Tas) Bull Ride and Rodeo Spectacular.
