Webster strong chance at Bundaberg

WANDOAN cowboy Cameron Webster will be one of the favourites for the Bundaberg  Amber Ranch Rodeo on Saturday. (Sept 10).

The rodeo will be at the Amber Ranch and Horse Riding Centre, 123 Lakeview Drive, Bundaberg commencing at 6pm.

Webster will compete in saddle bronc in one of his last rodeos before The Carlton Dry Warwick Rodeo National Finals on October 27-30.

Last season, he finished 11th on Australian Professional Rodeo Association standings so has a little ground to make up on the leaders when he heads to the four rounds of the national finals.

The new season started on May 1 and Webster is currently 10th in the standings.

There are open and second-division events in the Bundaberg Amber Ranch Rodeo in both the saddle bronc and bull ride.

The second-division bull ride has attracted 22 entries.

Wandoan bareback bronc rider David Worsford will be one of the shortest-priced favourites to compete at Bundaberg.

He won last year’s APRA  bareback title at the Warwick Rodeo and is the new season leader in the standings.

There are 10 nominations in the ladies barrel race at Bundaberg. There is a junior barrel race and junior steer ride on the program.

While all the Queensland action in the APRA will be in Bundaberg, Dysart rider Sonny Schafferius will compete at the Xtreme Bulls Night at Albury on Saturday.

After this weekend, the next major rodeo in the APRA will be at Marrabel in South Australia on October 2.
